Smedegårdens Børnehus is an independent institution, which means that the institution's board is responsible for overall management and decision-making. Additionally, Smedegårdens Børnehus has close cooperation with the other independent daycare institutions in the municipality and the children's houses in Fredensborg Municipality.

Smedegårdens Børnehus is located in the old Nivå area, close to both the forest and the beach, which we often use for local excursions. Furthermore, Smedegårdens Børnehus is also close to public transportation.

Smedegårdens Børnehus consists of two houses located on the same property and sharing a playground. The children are divided into three different age groups:                                                                                      

0-2 years old - Nursery: “Øen” in house 9 and “Ællingestuen” in house 11.

2-4 years old - Kindergarten: “Engen” in house 9 and “Løvestuen” in house 11.

4-6 years old - Kindergarten: “Havet” in house 9 and “Bjørnestuen” in house 11.
